MOVING TO HONG KONG
Personal and Household Goods
Anyone wishing to live in Hong Kong can send a 5 used personal and household goods for duty free is entry - all that is required is a detailed list of the goods, a photocopy of the shippers passport and a letter to the Hong Kong customs inspector requesting clearance of the goods. There is on prior ownership requirement and customs clearance normally takes about 4 days.
Automobiles and Motorcycles
Automobiles and Motorcycles are charged a registration tax based on their depreciated value, and must also comply with Hong Kong Dept of Transport regulations. More details can be obtained from our office.
Liquor,Wine and Beer
All alcoholic beverages are dutiable, and customer must be present for clearance, which usually takes about 7 days.
Domestic Pets
An import permit is required for all pets, and must be obtained from the Hong Kong Agriculture and Fisheries Department before shipping. Once issued, permits are only valid for 90 days. All pets from North America must go into Quarantine for 30 days upon arrival, and must also have a veterinary certificate of health and a valid rabies vaccination certificate.
Prohibited Articles
Firearms and ammunition, drugs and narcotics, radio transmitters, pornographic material and protected animal products.
Foreigners planning to move to Germany must obtain a work permit from the local employment office where they are intending to live. In addition, a residence permit is required which can only be granted when a work permit is assured. Returning German Nationals will require written proof that they have resided outside Germany for at least one year preceding their move. Everyone must also register with the local authorities within one week of their arrival, even returning German Nationals.
